When all you’re worst imaginings
Become everyday happenings
It’s the new normal they say.
Yet despite all that worry
You still feel unprepared
for a crisis that is shared.
It’s hard to feel compassion when
You’re drowning in comparison
Of boats, storms, weather and silver linings.
Time to refocus, reset, reawaken, rest
Except we’ve done all that
Learned the hard way to value
The important things, the who in our lives.
Because we nearly lost it all once before
We’ve rebuilt revised reassessed
We’re trying our very best
Furiously running just to stand still.
